The Development Services Department is responsible for the development of a healthy and vibrant city with a strong economic base, superior job opportunities, multiple types of shopping areas, and a wide range of diversified housing opportunities for the citizens of Hutto. The department leads economic growth and development policies through annexation, amendments to the future land use map, updating the Unified Development Code (UDC), permitting and processing of development applications and continuing to improve the efficiency of the one-stop-shop process. The Department also coordinates inter-departmental review of plans and programs and prepares staff reports, agendas and minutes for the following four advisory Commissions/Board to the City Council:
  • Planning and Zoning Commission
  • Historic Preservation Commission
  • Zoning Board of Adjustment
  • Building and Standards Commission

Lastly, the Department monitors and maintains official records of approved land development applications, building & ROW permits and engages with the public, Commissions, Stakeholders, Economic Development Department, ESD and HISD.
